FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Top 10 Ways to Teach Sight Words Freebie”

by Jill Nieman
Pre-Kindergarten - 2nd Grade

Here is a great freebie to handout to parents of primary students who are still working on sight words. It describes how to teach sight words and gives ideas for games to help make sight word learning fun.

One super fun game I use with my son is to tape sight word cards to the wall and have him shoot them with a Nerf gun. What ever word he hits, he has to read. He loves it!

FREE MATH LESSON - “Finding the Slope of Two Points on a Graph - Scavenger Hunt {FREE}”

by ChiliMath
8th - 10th Grade

Get your students engaged and moving around while learning how to find the slope when two points are given on a graph. Who likes sitting around for the entire period? As a teacher, it’s wonderful to see students move around the classroom, learn, and be engaged at the same time!

Activity: Scavenger Hunt
Topic/Skill: Finding the Slope of Two Points on a Graph

*Set contains 12 game cards with recording sheet and answer key

How to Play:
- Scatter the cards around the classroom and give each student/group a copy of the answer sheet.
- Assign or have them pick any card to start with.
- Before answering the problems, have students copy the symbols first which can be found on the upper right corner of each card.
- After solving each problem, students will then look or “hunt” for the next card that contains the answer from the previous problem. Each problem should have an answer that will lead them to the next card to work on.
- They will keep repeating the process until they have solved sixteen (16) problems or have gone back to the first card they started with.
- You may ask the students to show their solutions on paper and staple them with the answer sheets. You may check their answers using the answer key provided.
Make sure to cut and laminate the cards so you can use them many times.

I hope you find these resources useful in your class. Please provide a feedback when you get a chance as this helps us improve our existing and future products. If you have any questions, you may email me directly at chilimath@yahoo.com. Thank you!

FREE MISC. LESSON - “FREE New Year Reflections Teambuilding Activity”

by Laura Candler
3rd - 8th Grade

If you use cooperative learning in your classroom, you will probably be forming new teams when you return to school in January. It's important to do some type of team building activity when students are first placed together in a team so they can connect with each other personally. Use the New Year Reflections spinner as a fun way for your students think about the old year and look ahead to 2014. Team members spin the spinner and discuss the questions. Spending five to ten minutes on a simple ice breaker can make a big difference when setting up new teams!

FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Free! Christmas Santa’s List”

by Christine Maxwell
Pre-Kindergarten - 2nd Grade

This is a fun seasonal activity for Christmas that can be used a variety of ways.

There are several versions of this in color or blackline download. One has the words “Santa’s List” at the top, one “Nice,” one “Naughty” and the last is blank.

Children can write down things they have done to get them on the Nice List and the Naughty List! It helps to give them an understanding of good behavior and not as good behavior. Plus, motivate positive behavior to add to the Nice List that will last long after Christmas!

Children can write down what they want for Christmas right on the scroll! The list can be mailed to Santa after coloring.
Enjoy!
