FREE MISC. LESSON - “FREE Christmas Book Exchange Activity to Use with Students”

by Wise Guys
4th - 8th Grade

Instead of students buying meaningless presents for each other before winter break, I have my students buy each other books! This 3 page document includes a lesson plan on how to run an effective book exchange for a winter classroom party, a parent letter to send home, and a student book sheet to fill out. This is so much better than exchanging toys. There is also a plan for families in need of financial support. Give the gift of reading!

Visit our store for more great activities.

FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Free! Christmas Santa’s List”

by Christine Maxwell
Pre-Kindergarten - 2nd Grade

This is a fun seasonal activity for Christmas that can be used a variety of ways.

There are several versions of this in color or blackline download. One has the words “Santa’s List” at the top, one “Nice,” one “Naughty” and the last is blank.

Children can write down things they have done to get them on the Nice List and the Naughty List! It helps to give them an understanding of good behavior and not as good behavior. Plus, motivate positive behavior to add to the Nice List that will last long after Christmas!

Children can write down what they want for Christmas right on the scroll! The list can be mailed to Santa after coloring.
Enjoy!

FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Christmas Bear in a Chair Journal - Bear Reports Back to Santa!”

by Fern Smith’s Classroom Ideas
Pre-Kindergarten - 3rd Grade

My kids loved BC, Bear in a Chair, that reports back to Santa their behavior!
Here is a journal page that the boys and girls can use daily to write about what BC, Bear in a Chair, is doing.

Two ways to use these pages.
1. Bound all of them together as a class book, inserting the daily pages behind a photo of BC that day. Then make copies of the entire book for the students to take home as a Christmas gift.
2. Bound 15 to 20 pages together for each student to have their own Bear in a Chair book to take home.

Thank you,
Fern Smith

Last Day of the TpT Cyber Sale!

Today is the last day of TpT's Cyber Sale.  Use the promo code CYBER and you will receive 10% off of all TpT products.

All of my products will be on sale for 20% off. You may want to add my Accelerated Reader Color-Coded AND Book Level Labels along with your other purchases.

Visit my TpT store at...

Use Avery labels to color-code AND display the book level and points on the spines of your Accelerated Reader classroom library books, book sets, and school library books.   Having students see the actual book level on the colored label is better than just seeing colored dots.

I have created book level labels from 0.1 - 24.0 BL and point labels from 0.5 - 179.0 PTS.   Even though some of these labels are currently not in use, I wanted them available just in case you may need it in the future.

MAC and Microsoft Word users are able to edit the book level and point pages so that a label may be created for a particular Accelerated Reader book. I have also grouped the book level labels and point labels in six different ways to help you decide if it is better to print the page which has 6 sets of 3.0 - 3.9 BL labels or print the page which has 15 sets of 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, & 3.3 BL labels or print the page which has 1 copy each of labels 0.1 - 6.0 BL.

Use Avery labels to color-code the book levels. For example, at my school I used red - 1st grade, purple - 2nd grade, yellow - 3rd grade, orange - 4th grade, green - 5th grade, and blue - 6th grade & above.

You may also use other color-coded file labels from a variety of companies. Just be sure that the labels are compatible with the sizes of the Avery labels (2/3" X 3 7/16" for the book level labels and 1" X 2 5/8" for the point labels.)

Print the point labels using neon yellow, magenta, and green labels to differentiate which Accelerated Reader books are from your classroom library, core literature book sets, and the school library. The point labels inform the students how many points they may receive for that particular book, while at the same time, the neon labels are so bright that I can easily see which Accelerated Reader books are from my classroom library and which books belong to the school library.

I have also included color-coded book level headings which you may display on your bookshelves or book bins. MAC Pages and Microsoft Word users may edit the headings.   By using these color-coded Accelerated Reader book levels, students may quickly and easily find their exact book level.

The labels are formatted for only MAC and Microsoft Word users. Please be sure to test the template with plain paper before you print the actual labels.
