FREE MISC. LESSON - “Whale Printables with Common Core Standard”

by McLaren Marvels
1st - 3rd Grade

One unit that I really enjoy teaching is my whale unit. To begin the unit I give my students the pretest to get them interested about what we are learning. Then we read a science trade book about whale. We discuss the genre of the book and the different facts we read. The are amazed by whales! The second week of our unit we read a story out of the Trophie series titled Dear Mr. Blueberry. In these printables I discuss what we do with this story and I have a printable that meets Common Core Standard RI.2.8. There is also a math activity where you can graph the sizes of different whales. I hope you enjoy these!!! If you have any questions about the unit I'd be glad to answer them!

FREE MATH LESSON - “Number Cards with Base Ten’s Cubes for Visual Supports”

by AdaptEd 4 Special Ed
Pre-Kindergarten - 1st Grade

As a special education teacher I am constantly making visuals for my students. Visuals are amazing at increasing receptive language! I decided to make these (which I print as flashcards) to help one of my students understand 1:1 correspondence, while working on number recognition. They kills 2 birds with one stone! These cards helped her a lot, and I hope they will be helpful for your students as well.

You can print them and put them up as part of your number wall, use them as flashcards or even do flashcard games with them. The possibilities are endless.

Enjoy,

Now That School's Out. What Will We Do for the Summer?

Summer is the time for fun, fun, fun! School is out no more hitting the books. The only problem is that much of what was learned during the school year is forgotten, “out of sight, out of mind.” Not so with these fun educational activities that will keep the children looking for more and not even realizing they're learning.
