FREE MATH LESSON - “Free Time Boom Cards Sampler (Self-Grading with Audio Options)”

by Laura Candler
3rd - 4th Grade

Time Boom Cards Sampler includes 12 self-checking, interactive digital task cards designed to help students practice telling time on digital and analog clocks, read word forms of time, and solve elapsed time word problems. They're fun for kids and perfect for both distance learning and classroom use. Two versions of this freebie are included, one with audio read-aloud options and one without.

Time Skills Boom Cards

These 12 cards are samples from the three Time Skills decks below. Each deck includes 32 unique Boom Cards for practicing a specific concept. The background color of each card in the sampler indicates which deck it was taken from.

Green: Time in Word Form

Yellow: Telling Time to the Nearest Minute

Blue: Elapsed Time Word Problems

These time skills cards make use of a variety of response types. Some have multiple choice answers, some require entering the time in number form, and some use drag and drop responses. If any of the word problems are too easy or too challenging, you can hide those cards from your students using the Hide Cards setting in your library.

Please note that Boom Cards are digital and not printable. The TpT product file does include a printable PDF with a link to the Boom Cards for students plus thumbnail images for teacher use, but the actual Boom Cards are not printable. Instead, they are fun, interactive, self-checking digital task cards hosted on the Boom Learning℠ platform. You can easily assign them in Google Classroom or by providing your students with a FastPlay link.

Important Information about Boom Cards

After you download this Boom Cards freebie, you’ll receive a PDF that includes a link for redeeming your deck on the Boom Learning platform. If you don’t already have a Boom Learning account, you’ll be prompted to create a free account at that time.

To use Boom Cards, you must be connected to the Internet. Boom Cards play on modern browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge). Apps are available for Android, iPads, iPhones, and Kindle Fires. For security and privacy, adults must have a Boom Learning account to use and assign Boom Cards. You will be able to assign the Boom Cards you are buying with “Fast Pins,” a type of play provides instant feedback for self-grading Boom Cards. FastPlay is a free way for students to engage with Boom Cards decks. For additional assignment options and data tracking, you’ll need a premium account. If you are new to Boom Learning, you will be offered a free trial of their premium account. Click here for the current details of this offer.

FREE MATH LESSON - “Free Dry Erase Addition Mats”

by Lee Hall
Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten

Free addition mats to use with dry erase markers and manipulatives. This is great practice for independent work, centers, or math tubs.

Numbers 0 - 19

Color and black and white options.

To prepare: Print out the mat you prefer and the set of cards. Laminate them and cut them out. Gather enough dry erase markers, erasers (or whatever you use for erasers), and counters for your group.

To use:
Students draw one card from the stack. They record the number on the line below the first circle. Then they place the appropriate number of counters in the first circle. Then the students draw again. They write the second number below the second circle. They place the correct number of counters inside the second circle. Next they count up all of the counters in both circles. Finally, they write the answer on the line to the right of the equal sign. Students erase their mats and repeat the steps above.

You can also print off two sets of cards to allow students to practice doubles as well.

FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Storyboard Writing Graphic Organizer | Story Elements | Plot Diagram”

by The Language of Learning
4th - 7th Grade

WORKS WITH EASEL! --> Looking for a simple and effective tool for helping your students write an amazing story? This 2-page resource walks students through 6 main story boarding steps to writing a great creative story!

STORY ELEMENTS INCLUDED:

  • Title
  • Characters (protagonist and antagonist)
  • Setting
  • Plot
  • Conflict
  • Theme (common themes listed on back)

*Page 2 is a helpful quick reference guide for students explaining all the elements' names and definitions from the worksheet page.

(This resource pairs really well with this video rap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6I24S72Jps)

My students love to just jump into writing without taking adequate time to plan; this resource helps students pause before writing, plan every aspect of their creative story, and then put it all together in a well-written, well-organized work of creative narrative writing.

The definitions on the back side are perfect for writers who quickly forget what they've learned in class and need an extra reminder while pre-writing. I like to print page 2 on neon colored paper as a quick reference sheet throughout the year.

Enjoy!

FREE MATH LESSON - “Number Identification Game 0-20 | Numbers 0-20 No Prep 5 in a Row Games”

by Tessa Maguire
Kindergarten - 1st Grade

Practice number identification with numbers 0-20 with this fun, easy prep game! Students build fluency with number recognition by continued game play. Just display, push the button to randomize, print and play!

This no-prep blackline game is ready for playing! Just print, cut, and play, or laminate for future use. The corresponding Powerpoint files plays the game all on its own. Click the button to randomize the slides and push start. It can be randomized for every play, keeping the game fresh and fun for students.

With only 15 numbers on the game card, students can quickly find and identify the numbers. 30 different game cards are included with each game, so there's a different card for even large class sizes. Complete setup directions are included.

Note: The game is self timed at 9 seconds per slide, as that's what worked best in my classroom, but you can change the length of the timing in the same way you'd change any slide timing in Powerpoint. This is great for changing the way it's used in kindergarten and first grade.

Other 5 in a Row Versions:

• Number Identification 0-120 5 in a Row: 5 No Prep Games & Powerpoints

• Hundreds Chart 5 in a Row: 4 No Prep Games & Powerpoints

• Addition & Subtraction Facts 0-5 5 in a Row: 3 No Prep Games & Powerpoints

Please note: This may not work with Powerpoint compatible programs. I recommend using Powerpoint itself. It will not work on Powerpoint 2008 for Macs.
