FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Brain Teaser Mysteries GRADES 3-4 Fun FREEBIE”

Mini-mysteries are not only fun brain teasers for grades 3-4 students, but also practice listening and inferential skills. They sharpen students’ abilities to predict and to draw conclusions. They are high interest bell ringers, exit tickets, time-fillers, and best of all, carrots for the end of the day. Alternatively, early finishing or talented students could read the mysteries on their own. The most obvious methods of using these tales are to read them out loud or to show them on your screen. The students then guess the solutions. If you want them to work a bit harder, they could record and explain their guesses on the included worksheet. These mysteries are drawn from two Brilliantly Lit resources: ELA Games: 65 no-prep fun activities GRADES 3-4 and Brain Teaser Mystery Stories: 15 Stories for GRADES 3-4. Thus, they are displayed in different formats with the mystery from the story collection including a clue page to give students a hint about the solution.

FREE MATH LESSON - “Adding Fractions Lesson - Adding Fractions Unlike Denominators - 5th Grade Math”

This math lesson provides you with a printable flip book and a corresponding digital notebook for supporting your students in learning the process for adding fractions with unlike denominators. It is broken up into 5 steps with explanations, vocabulary and examples.

Note: The digital and printable versions are the same thing but the digital version is available for teachers who need to use digital resources instead of print resources.

This flip book is double sided and prints on a half sheet to save paper and ink. It comes with a video tutorial to help you put the flip book together.

The students will use the flip book to complete activities related to:

♦ Finding the Least Common Multiple

♦ Finding the Least Common Denominator

♦ Converting an Improper Fraction to Mixed Number

All files are in black and white for easy printing. This also allows the students to color and decorate their flip books if they'd like which increases student ownership of the lesson materials.
