Goal setting is priority #1 for me as a school counselor. How do I help my scholars grow their goal setting skills? How can I make my lessons multimodal, differentiated, and interesting? This lesson attempts to be all of these things....and brief solution focused, because we're school counselors and BSFC is what we do. It's a super power!
This handout provides the scaffolding necessary for scholars to work towards comprehensive understanding of career choice, including spaces to consider average salary, education required to enter the field, and the way they, their families, and their communities view folks in the field(s) of their choice.
While this worksheet was made specifically for Appalachian youth and addresses regional outmigration, a common worry of Appalachian scholars who choose to pursue postsecondary education or training, the worksheet lends itself well to all populations who may need more structured assistance researching career choices.
