FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Free Halloween Wordsearch Activity & Writing Prompts”

Want a challenging Halloween activity for your middle or high school students? Need ideas for fun activities? Download my free Halloween-themed word search. Includes answer key and several writing prompts and ideas to use in your secondary classroom.

Warning: the word find is difficult. It may take your students a long time to complete and drive them insane. This is how I get back at them when they are being difficult. heehee...just kidding.

Word Search: Use this activity for enrichment or extra-credit. Answer key IS included.

Writing Prompts: Divided up into informative/explanatory, argument/persuasive, and narrative. Choose the prompt for a journal or essay or allow students to choose their own.

Try out my HALLOWEEN WRITING TASK CARDS for a more formal activity. They can be used as bell ringers, exit slips, writing stations, etc.

Instructions:

1. Print your Helper of the Day necklaces on white cardstock and laminate them. Regular paper also works!

2. Punch a hole near the top.

3. Attach a lanyard to the hole. I got my lanyards from Amazon.

What is the Helper of the Day?

I create a monthly Helper of the Day calendar and share it with parents. On each school day, 1 student is assigned to be the helper.

The Helper of the Day:

•Brings in a mystery object for the class to guess what it is. This builds classroom community and oral communication skills. Clues are provided such as the colour, location at home, material it’s made out of, etc.

•Leads the morning routine

•Helps out with miscellaneous tasks

•Chooses good listeners at the carpet to get $0.10 each (classroom economy system, not an actual dime)

•Is rewarded for their work with $1 which can be used in our “general store” (classroom economy system, not real money)

On their day, they get to wear the helper necklace.
