First Day of School Activity

One of the most important things you can do in your classroom is build rapport with your students. Getting to know them on a personal level helps build trust. Believe me, this helps bring discipline issues way down all year.
I do this quick activity on the first day to give me some information about each student. Because it asks about their favorite author and book, it sets the stage for a school year with a deep connection to literature! It also makes a neat bulletin board. Best of all, it's free!
