FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Adapted Holiday Symbols Mini Book for Special Education”

by Autism Classroom Resources-Christine Reeve
Pre-Kindergarten - 3rd Grade

This print-and-go activity is already adapted for students with special needs. This is a set of 2 mini-books for students to assemble and color the holiday symbols.

I’ve combined Hanukkah and secular Christmas symbols in these mini books. Students follow directions to color the picture. One book has symbol and color cues supporting the directions while the second (identical) book just has words with no symbols. Because of this the first book has 1 piece of color and should be printed in colors while the second book can be printed and copied in black and white.

Students cut on the solid lines and staple on the vertical lines to bind them. You can use them to talk about the meaning and/or use of each item and its role in the winter festivities it is part of.
