Pre-Kindergarten - 1st Grade
I created this engaging, ninja-themed card game just for beginning readers. I love to use reading games in my classroom. They are a great way to practice sight word recognition and fluency.
This set comes with:
*Card sets for 2 levels of play: CVC, CCVC, and CVCe words;
as well as beginning sight word sentences
*Directions to send home, if needed
*2 decorative backgrounds to copy onto the backs of game cards
This game addresses the following Common Core Standards* for kindergarten and first grade language arts:
RF.K.1a Follow words from left to right, top to bottom, and page by page.
RF.K.1b Recognize that spoken words are represented in written language by specific sequences of letters.
RF.K.1c Understand that words are separated by spaces in print.
RF.K.3b Associate the long and short sounds with the common spellings (graphemes) for the five major vowels.
RF.K.4 Read emergent-reader texts with purpose and understanding.
RF.K.2d Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words.
RF.1.2a Distinguish long from short vowel sounds in spoken single-syllable words.
RF.1.2b Orally produce single-syllable words by blending sounds (phonemes), including consonant blends.
RF.1.3a Know the spelling-sound correspondences for common consonant digraphs.
RF.1.3b Decode regularly spelled one-syllable words.
RF.1.3c Know final -e and common vowel team conventions for representing long vowel sounds.
RF.1.4a Read grade-level text with purpose and understanding.
