This phonics test is fast, effective, and easy to use. It provides diagnostic clues to basic weaknesses in vowels and simple syllables. There are no context clues, so the student must rely on word analysis skills entirely. As the student reads these names aloud, the teacher or parent writes what the student says right after each name. Stop the test when the names become too hard. This test is so simple and informative that it is perfect for tutoring a struggling reader who is having difficulty with word analysis. It makes planning lessons so much easier.
