FREE SCIENCE LESSON - “Current Electricity - Conductors and Insulators - What and Why”

by Elf Off the Shelf
4th - 9th Grade

After explaining and demonstrating conductors and insulators in terms of high and low resistance as caused by the number of collisions between electrons and metal ions, this engaging and easy to follow animated PowerPoint then takes the student through designing a results table and test circuit. Students can then test different materials themselves to conclude that metals are conductors and non – metals are insulators.

Objectives

  • To know that conductors conduct electricity and insulators do not.
  • To know that metals are conductors and non-metals are insulators.
  • To be able to design a test circuit and results table.
  • To explain why materials are conductors or insulators.
