FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Inference Passages - using evidence and schema - COMMUNITY HELPERS - PREVIEW”

by Ainsley Karl
1st - 4th Grade

Passages to help students use text clues and background knowledge make inferences

This is FREEBIE of my 24 passage set found here

Inference is a hard skill to master. Especially in students with reading comprehension difficulties. I created these short passages to help my students practice this skill. These passages are longer than most I have found available and I believe the extra details help my students better grasp the inference.

This specific set of inference passage is based on COMMUNITY HELPERS.
Use in conjunction with a community helper unit or just for fun. These passages rely heavily on students reading the passage and then applying their prior knowledge to figure out what job is being discussed.

Each passage asks students to read, name what job they think and then give 2 supporting details that support their answer.

24 Passages included in the main file!
Jobs included:
Zookeeper
Vet
Chef
Baker
Bus Driver
Crossing Guard
Teacher
Principal
Librarian
Plumber
Gardner
Mail Carrier
Pilot
Flight Attendant
Train Conductor
Doctor
Nurse
Dentist
Trash Collector
Police Officer
Fire Fighter
