Keep your students engaged as you introduce exponents with guided notes. After independent practice and an extension activity the students can practice what they have learned by playing a board game.

1st Activity – This activity defines exponent and has blanks for students to fill in on (1) reading a number with an exponent, (2) writing a number in exponential form, (3) writing a number in expanded form, and (4) evaluating a number in exponential form.

2nd Activity – This activity is independent practice on what was covered in the 1st activity.

3rd Activity – This activity is an extension activity on simplifying expressions that involve exponents and the four operations.

Group Activity – Board Game
A game board and 30 game cards may be used to review exponents with numerical expressions.
